Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind An Amber Review

The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind

I was never one for reading books. Throughout my life it was nearly impossible to get me to sit my ass down and read a book. I hated reading. I picked up the Harry Potter Series when I was 11 years old and it was interesting for a while and I managed to read all the way up to book 5 and got bored with it. I havent read a book that had truly captured my interest and one that I absolutely loved until I was about 17 when I was introduced to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. Now I didnt jump into the series right away. My love for the books actually started with me sitting at home one afternoon watching a show called Legend of the Seeker on CW50. At the time I didnt know what the hell I was watching but I watched because there was nothing else on tv. So I watched and I thought hey this is kind of interesting I could get into this. Im imdb'd the show and found out the show was actually based off an 11 book fantasy series. So then I went out and picked up my copy of Wizards First Rule and the rest is history. I was hooked. I love this book. This book made me realize what my problem was when it came to reading. It wasnt that I hated reading. I just hadnt found the right book. Wizard's first rule was the right book. I finished the whole series in about 3 months I think. And read through the series as a whole a few more times after that.

After reading through the whole series and watching Legend of the Seeker it became a little difficult  because the show and the books are waaaaaaay different. The most these two have in common is the character names. Disney had taken over the rights to the show so that right there was a sign of how different the show would be from the books. The books themselves are more adult oriented.Definitely not recommended for kids. The Sword of Truth Series is like an adult harry potter. Theres extreme violence, gore, and some strong sexual content. If youve ever watched legend of the seeker and read the books than youve noticed the difference. And thats not to say that I hated the show. I actually liked it for what it was even if some parts made me cringe at their innacuracy. The show is what got me into the books so I have some love for it even though I think a full length feature film like Lord of the Rings would have done this series justice. So to show my love and appreciation of the books I have put together a series of videos that basically walk you through the books as well as offer my own cracky opinions Starting with book 1 Wizard's First Rule. Feel free to watch and enjoy.
